Building a bright future

Sustainable development

Earlsbrook is a long-term project committed to sustainable development and prioritising environmental responsibility. Careful master-planning has incorporated extensive green spaces, eco-friendly building practices and infrastructure designed to reduce environmental impact.

The focus is on supporting residents to foster a lifestyle in harmony with the natural surroundings and benefiting both current and future generations.

Living with the land

Earlsbrook is designed to minimise its impact on local ecosystems by preserving and enhancing protected wetlands, natural waterways and green spaces.

By integrating sustainable practices and maintaining a careful balance between development and environmental stewardship, Earlsbrook is helping to meet growing demand for housing while respecting the land.

Improving water quality

Te Waihora | Lake Ellesmere

Converting Earlsbrook's current land use - dairy farming - to residential housing will enhance the water quality of nearby Te Waihora/Lake Ellesmere. Environmental assessments confirm the change will reduce nitrogen, phosphorus and contaminant runoff into local waterways, resulting in cleaner water and lower methane emissions.

Protecting ecosystems

Wetlands and green spaces

Earlsbrook is designed to minimize its impact on local ecosystems by preserving and enhancing protected wetlands, natural waterways and green spaces. Sustainable stormwater management, habitat restoration and eco-friendly landscaping will support local wildlife and enhance biodiversity while maintaining the area's natural character.

Respecting heritage

Utilising agricultural land

While agriculture is central to Lincoln's heritage, New Zealand faces a housing crisis. Earlsbrook's development will help meet the growing demand for homes while occupying only a small portion of Canterbury’s 2 million hectares of agricultural land. The project integrates sustainable practices and preserves green spaces, ensuring Lincoln’s agricultural roots remain part of its future while supporting community growth.

Embracing the environment

For all generations

The new Earlsbrook development is designed to connect the community with nature for generations to come. The plan prioritises green spaces, walkable neighbourhoods and tree-lined streets that integrate seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.

With reserves that embrace natural waterways and springs, Earlsbrook fosters a strong connection to the wider semi-rural Lincoln environment.
