Funding Secured and 18 Classroom Scale Confirmed for New Earlsbrook School
Following the Ministry of Education’s initial approval for a new primary school in the Earlsbrook subdivision, the project has taken a massive leap forward with official funding and design specifications now locked in.
The government has confirmed that the upcoming Lincoln South primary school, in the heart of the Earlsbrook Square precinct, will have 18 classrooms to meet the needs of our rapidly growing neighbourhood.
The green light comes as part of a wider $62.5 million South Island education package announced by Education Minister Erica Stanford. The funding injection is specifically targeted at high-growth areas like the Selwyn District, ensuring that critical infrastructure keeps pace with the vibrant influx of young families moving into master-planned communities.
To get spades in the ground as quickly as possible, the Ministry of Education is utilising modern, high-quality modular builds. This smart construction approach ensures that the 18 new classrooms will be safe, warm, and highly functional while dramatically cutting down standard construction timelines.
The school will sit adjacent to the upcoming commercial precinct in Earlsbrook, which is set to include a supermarket, essential medical services, a retirement village, and vibrant cafes. For Earlsbrook's youngest residents, this means they can walk or bike to class right from their doorstep.
